1912 (25th Oct) ½d green swan elaborately hand illustrated envelope front by Herbert Gravenor Appleby, who took up residence in Newcarnie, W.A. Hence two ½d green stamps pmkd NEWCARNIE in opposing corners & addressed to Mrs Appleby in Leeds, UK. Some light toning. A stunning example of this gentleman's work which was only discovered in 2004.
