1940 (18th June) 1/6d Hermes on "The Australia Hotel Sydney" env tied by GPO Sydney Air cds carried on the "Horseshoe" route. Censor tape tied by violet "PASSED BY CENSOR S.83" h/s. Eastbourne, Sussex b/s indicates the 5 week transit time instead of the normal 10-12 days with the route being Airmail to Durban via Cairo then by ship to the UK. Good cond accompanied by map of route. Vendor paid $285 in 2002 Linke auction.
