Colombia 1929 (24th Aug) La Dorado, Caldas, Colombia to Coolangatta, Queensland cover which sender has adapted from a Californian automotive company envelope as an economy measure with the reverse bearing SCADTA (Sociedad Colombo Alemana de Transportes Aereos) airmail etiquette. Frankings tied by Barranquilla 26 AUG 29 cds's. "DZ" handstamped upper right appears to be a Colombian internal marking. Sent airmail within Colombia at rate of 49c (UPU 15c, therefore airmail surcharge was 34c) then by surface to Australia. The earliest South America to Australia airmail service cover recorded & only cover carried by the SCADTA airmail service. Some staining but presentable & unusual. Ex Perry
