1925 (16th Feb) Sydney to USA cover carried by ship to San Francisco then by internal US airmail to Pennsylvania. Postage rate was 3d for letter under one ounce by ship across The Pacific plus 1/1d for airmail sector, a total of 1/4d. Cover is 1½d KGV PSE uprated with 1½d red KGV & 1/- kangaroo so deficient by 1d & circular violet cachet on back carries inscription "P.P". There were three zones in the USA for airmail rating, San Francisco to Cheyenne (4½d Aust, 8¢ US), Cheyenne-Chicago (9d or 16¢), beyond Chicago (1/1d or 24¢), replaced in 1927 by a single Airmail charge of 5d (10¢) per half ounce regardless of the destination in the USA.
